Ciaoo! Helloo! I’m Sofia, an ESC volunteer from Italy currently working at the AFS Latvia office for my 2023/2024 long term project.
I will forever be grateful for these past 8 months spent here, for volunteering for AFS Latvia and for creating wholesome bonds with my current friends from Latvia and all over the world which have made this experience even more special and unforgettable.
The AFS Latvia team made me feel at home and included since my first day here, always being supporting, helpful and open. Volunteering for them has given me the chance to experience the working life for the first time, to be creative, to express myself and to learn what it means and what’s behind the process of going from one idea to a final and satisfying product such as events, trainings, school presentations and camps.
I can honestly call this team and working environment a safe and warm place, where there’s the possibility to grow and develop skills while working both independently and in a team with wonderful people.
During my time here I’ve learned and discovered a lot about myself, I’ve achieved the lifestyle and balance I was wishing for and felt proud of my personal development.
Through the ESC project I’ve met awesome volunteers from different countries who will forever have a special place in my heart and have always made me feel loved and appreciated for who I truly am.
I can call myself lucky for this life changing experience and for all the memories here in Latvia which I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
